Q. How much are gutters per foot?

Q. Why do my gutters overflow even when they are clean?
A. Shingle overhang and drip edge style are many times to blame for water leaking behind a gutter system. Fascia aprons or roof aprons can be added to minimize this problem. They are far more effective than caulking or sealing. For total protection, the Truss DuraTrac hanging system is recommended for a truelly seamless installation with no screw or nail penetrations. Other causes of overflowing gutters are undersized gutters or downspouts or improperly sloped gutters.
Q. Do gutters cause ice dams?
A. Ice dams are primarily caused by rapid heat loss from the home that melts the snow on the roof causing water to run down the roof and refreeze at the eave and eventually build into the gutter. The heat loss and lack of sufficient attic ventilation are the actual cause and not the gutter since the ice dam can occur with or without the presence of a gutter.
Q. What can I do if I am concerned about ice dams on my home?
A. The most important thing to do is stop the source of the heat loss and increase attic ventilation to be sure your roof is kept cold. Covered gutter systems can help lessen the potential for ice dams but you may experience more icicles as the ice grows across the cover and drips to the ground. When all else fails, heat cables can be used to provide channels for the melting snow to escape the roof line.

A. Englert LeafGuard gutters are guaranteed against all wind blown debris. Small debris may enter the system but the large debris will shed off of the cover. The small debris will flush through the downspouts without causing a clog.
